The Morning at Kearl Lake oil sands project just north of Fort MacMurray, Alberta started out a whopping minus 31 Celsius. Luckly there was very little wind but the cold was bone jarring. We worked through it somehow

The deer were on the move last night leaving their tracks by the apartment.  Forecast is for cold weather starting on wednesday  so the animals must eat to survive while the weather is still some what warm.

It is a frosty minus 34 Celsius with the wind chill this morning. Exposed flesh, like one's face will freeze within a minute. Cold. The birds and animals are hungered down conserving precious heat and energy. owls will find a broken off stump and sheltered in the tree surrounded by wood. The weatherman states the temperature by Thursday is even getting colder. Ouch.

We had a skiff of snow last night. The weather is warm with daytime highs of minus 4 Celsius but it is going to get real cold with wind chills of minus 30 Celsius range. In the north it is not how cold the weather is but how cold with the wind factored into the equation. The animals sense the cold weather on route and forge looking for energy to fight off the cold. The deer were active last night as evidenced by the tracks left in the new snow. The funny thing is the deer do not have to walk on our footpaths for the snow is not deep this year yet. They do so, maybe from habit or a common bond not really understood by mankind as of yet. Jay

After Christmas

This blog is getting a little hard to reach. Why? These guys are just to busy being computer nerds and do not understand artistry. Damn them all are there high status looking down on us.

Christmas day 2011. A beautiful warm day for the north. Plus 4 for a daytime high
Will go for a walk over to seven eleven to get some candy for Christmas. I prepared a nice meal last night, consumed in dim light conditions. Roasted ham, farmer sausage, perogies and peas. Not a bad meal for a person. Apple pie and Christmas cake for desert. They were baught at safeway, only a block away.
